NJPW: Melbourne Southern Showdown Results

On June 29, 2019, The King of Sports had their Melbourne event, Southern Showdown. This event was an anticipated event since the card rapidly changed, to consist of three title matches. Titles that where put on the line were IWGP Tag Tram titles, RevPro Undisputed British Cruiserweight Championship, and the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship. All the titles are either being pursued by Bullet Club or Bullet Club is holding the titles.

1st Match 20 Minute Limit

Nick Bury | Shota Umino | Toa Henare

Vs. Mark Tui| Andrew Villalobos | Michael Richards

Toa Henare won in less than 10 minutes and 8 seconds with a  Toa Bottom

2nd Match 20 Minute Limit

Aaron Solow Vs. Slex

The Business Slex defeated Solow in 9 minutes and 7 seconds with his roling high kick.

3rd Match Tag Team- 30 Minute Limit

YOH | Toru Yano Vs. Taiji Ishimori | Gino Gambino

Yano won with a pin in 9 Minutes 40 Seconds.

4th Match Tag Team 30 Minute Limit

Yoshi-Hashi |Tomohiro Ishii Vs. Chase Owens | Yujiro Takahashi

Chase Owens ate the pin from Tmohiro Ishii in 9 minutes 47 seconds.

5th Match 60 Minute Limit British Cruiserweight Championship

Rocky Romero Vs. ELP

ELP won the match with his finisher CR 2 in less than half the time limit. Match ended at 18 minutes 45 seconds.

6th Match 60 Minute Limit IWGP Tag Team Championship

Mikey Nicholls | Juice Robinson Vs. Tama Tonga | Tanga Loa

G.o.D in their 4th title defense since obtaining the titles again retained the championships in less than 11 minutes and 20 seconds. Robinson and Nicholls were no match for Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa.

7th Match 60 Minute Limit IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship

Will Ospreay Vs. Robbie Eagles

This would be the most anticipated match of the night. Robbie would have the support of his country and the assurance that ELP would have his back.

However, Eagles wanted no help from anyone and wanted to prove that he could win on his own.

ELP would come to the ring during the match to interfere Robbie would then put his fellow Bullet Club brother in his place. Stating he did not need his help because he had his home on his side.

Will Ospreay would win in 30 Minutes and 4 Seconds with the Stormbreaker.

Leaving the question, what is Robbie’s place with Bullet Club. Well, Eagles is still apart of the Bullet Club and will continue on to their side. But this is not the end of the Ospreay and Eagles story, they are now tied in wins.

8th Match 60 Minute Limit Special Tag Match

Hiroshi Tanahashi | Kazuchika Okada Vs. Jay White | Bad Luck Fale

Okada would win with the Rainmaker in 19 minutes and 55 seconds over Bullet Club. Okada would end the show speaking the audience reassuring them NJPW will be back and he will be back.

The crowd was on fire in Melbourne for the Southern Showdown. It will be a night that will not be forgotten in Australia.
